ISO 9001 should be strengthened to address several practical loopholes in compliance, particularly within statutory and uniformed bodies.
For example, some organisations may claim compliance while their own bylaws and governance frameworks have not been properly revised, published, or aligned with current operations. Issues such as tenure, tender procedures, conflicts of interest, and transparency can become unclear, especially where organisations operate under historical structures that no longer reflect their present status or function.
Government-funded projects (KKM, MBM) also require stronger governance controls. Where management is largely volunteer-based, individuals with personal or organisational interests may be involved in decision-making without adequate declaration or independent oversight. Similar individuals may also hold roles or interests across several related organisations, creating potential conflicts that are not always disclosed.
ISO 9001 should therefore go beyond documented procedures and require stronger verification of actual governance, transparency, conflict-of-interest declarations, procurement practices, and accountability. Compliance should reflect how an organisation truly operates not merely whether it has the required documents in place. Spot check needed because NHQ, State and Division all run with their own despite being a long standing organisation from 1908. Members are also part of KKM and this is conflict & duty is also questionable as paid staff does the work but never in photo session
