Purpose

This first public comment is to obtain comments/inputs on draft of DMS 1041 - Fresh pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) — Specification .

This DMS was developed by Working Group on Fresh Pineapple (NSC 01/TC 3/WG 2) .

4.1 Quality Requirement
In all classes, subject to the special provisions for each class and the tolerances allowed, the fruit
shall be:

i) The fruit shall have a minimum total soluble solids (TSS) content of not less than 12°Brix, unless otherwise specified for a particular variety

ii. Practically free from diseases affecting the quality, appearance and marketability of the fruit.
For Example: Pineapple Mealybug Wilt, Heart Rot,Fruitlet Core Rot, Black Rot

iii. Free from mechanical damage caused by harvesting, handling, transportation and packaging operations

iv.Fruits within the same package shall be reasonably uniform in size, shape, maturity and colour

v. The fruit shall be traceable to the production source through appropriate identification and record-keeping systems (Treceability export requirement)
